Apple Store – 25 Billionth Download

In my math class we did a project on the 25 billionth app winner. On February 24th at 6:27 p.m. there were 24,658,507,655 downloads during the contest. If you subtract that from 25,000,000,00 you get 341,492,345 downloads left. You then divide that by the avg. number of downloads per minute, which is around 33,800 to get 10,103 minutes until we reach 25,000,000,00.  If you divide that by 60 you get the number of hours left which is 168 hours. Then you divide that by 24 to get the number of days which is 7 days left until we reach 25 billion. That would mean we would reach the 25 billionth app winner on March 2nd at 6:27 p.m.  you would want to start downloading apps at around march 2nd 6:20.

  1. Vinchenzo, good work so far. Like I said when we spoke, I think you could do a better job of explaining how you calculated an average number of downloads per minute. Other than that, I was able to follow your work and it seems like you arrived at a decent time. If I were you, I would start downloading apps well before 6:15 or 6:20. What do you think will happen to the rate of downloads per minute as our number approaches the 25 billion mark?
